Glazer

£265 Million of debt will be transferred to Manchester United if, as seems likely, Malcolm Glazer reaches the 75% plus one share mark in the takeover of Man U. Shareholders United, the supporters group, own 18% - which is nearly all the remaining shares not owned by Glazer, so it might not come to that yet.

Basically, fuck off Glazer, we don't want you or your debt. I'd like to say you're gonna see how difficult we can make it for you, but I'm sure plenty of people will still go to the games and buy the merchandise :-(

Very pissed off.

Yeah, but, he's not going to want to bankrupt United, is he? You'd have to imagine he'll want a return on his money. It's not like he'll sink loads of money into a club that goes bust, because then he'll lose everything. And I'm sure he's smart enough to not let that happen.

I don't know what it is about United fans, but every time anyone tries to buy their club, they get really het up about it. The same thing happened a few years ago. It's ridiculous... United are a plc. This brings in loads for the club, but if you're a plc, you can and will be bought. Glazer, I imagine, saw United's stock fall as you stopped winning things (and pre Cup final) then bought the club, with the idea of increasing the value of the club.

I don't hear Chelsea complaining too much that they were taken over by a rich foreigner...

that's the thing dude. when you choose to buy into 21st Century football - and you do, by going to the games and purchasing the merchandise, you have to accept that you are helping to sustain a business. expecting that business not to be sold because "the fans don't want it" is naive and childish.

what has made them into such a profitable business has allowed them to become such a good side- the two are inseperable.

that said, Glazer is a covetous and unpleasant sounding bastard.

If the level of debt he was bringing to the club was, say £10M instead of £265M I wouldn't really have a problem with it. And I agree that as a plc, the club most definitely was for sale, but that doesn't mean supporters should not campaign against it.
